Bates, Government Metearolcgiet, Eupplicd the following weather eiunmary and iorecost at 5 p.m. yesterday: — Tho basoineter fell on Sctuvday morning, but rose smartly during the night and on Sunday, when tho winds changed to south, co!d nnd stormy wealher was experienced, efpecialy in tho Sou'.h Island and tho southern parts of the Ncrth Island. Conejdwablo rain, snow, hail, and sleet fell on the East Coast and on higher le\ols. Present indications are for strong easterly winds northward of East Cnpe aud Kawhia, inod-crato to strong eoutherlies decreasuig elsewhere, and then changing to increasing | northcrlies. M J m about twenty hours cold and inir to cloudy weather will probably prevail with some scattered local showers. Tho barometer wi'.l probably fall everywhere aftor twenty-four hours, and a low pressure area is duo to pass in tho south about Wednesday night. ______ I
