FIRES.

(FttZSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) GISBORNE, August 12. A woolshed owned by Mr Charles Gray, at Waiohika, was destroyed by firo yesterday. It was insured in the Royal office for £150. and the contents for £217 in the National office.

At 7.5 o'clock last night, the fire brigado were summoned to the Sydenham Furniture Factory, at the corner of Colombo and Hastings streets, Sydenham, where a fire had been discovered in tho shaving bin in the engineroom. The outbreak was speedily extinguished. As an appreciation of the brigade's services, the manager handed tho Superintendent a cheque for £2. Later in tho evening the brigade were summoned to suppress a gorse fire in Stapleton and Avon roads.
