MUSICAL UNION.
TO THE 13UITOK. Of "I'TTE PKF.SS." ' Sir, —In roply to your correspondent, "A Weli-wisher," 1 might he allowed to explain the reason-for the members leaving their seats during the interval.. The last two concert evenings have been very cold, and the audience cannot estimate the extent of that'coldness on the stage —it is more that "of, a freezing chamber than anything else. The president of the Society, Mr Kayo, before he left for America, with his usual thoughtfulness, gave mc authority to have refreshments provided-for the chorus and orchestra, and in order to partake of those it was, \of course, necessary for them to leave the stage . With reference to the curtain, rji.'.'s impossible to droo this, as tho boxingin of tho stage, and erection of ceilings, prevents its use. I might in ijhis connection remark that, only those :wh<v are in direct contact'with the inner workings, of these concerts are able jLb appreciate tho amount of work involved. I trust that this explanation will satisfy your , correspondent, whom I .hope will ever remain,.- with many others, "well-wishers" of the -.Union. —Yours, etc., * . H. ANTILL ADLEY, : : . -■■■: G.M:U. ;
