.. 4 A meet r,f the Brackeniiold lloundß was held on tho Lyndon ***o. 1 Settlement on Thursday, when, despite unfavourable weather, there was a very large turnout, including visitors frcro various parts of North Canterbury. Commencing a* the Mason bridge, several hares were startled up in traversing Mr "Walter P.utherford's farm, but owing; to wet grass, scent waa extremely difficult, and tbe quarry got clear. Crossing the-nod into Mr J. Scanlan's, a kill was registered after an exciting chase. An excellent luncheon prepared by a. number of lacbes was partaken of at this stage, in outdoor fzahk-n. On refraining a turn was made in Mr Beavan's country, but after a couple of runs heavy rain came on, and the hunting party adjourned to the Waiau Hotel for afternoon tea. provided by Mr W. 0. Rutherford, of Montrose. Another hunt was to have taken place on Lyndon No. 2, but this, owing to bad' weather, was postponed ior definiielv.
