The Hon. R. Hcaton Rhodes, Post-master-General, arrived from Wellington yesterday, and proceeded to his • home at Tni Tapu. Mr Rhodes will bo in tho city to-day, and will leavo for .Wellington by this evening's steamer. \ The Rev. Cecil John Wood was consecrated as fourth Bishop of Melanesia in St. Paul's Cathedral, Dunedin, yesterday morning by the Primate, Bishop Nevill. Bishop Sprott, of Wellington, and Bishop Crossley, of Auckland, assisted the- Primate. The consecration sermon was preached by Dean Fitchett, and there was a full musical tervico. Williams, who, for ___ the past eighteen months has occupied __ the position, of traffic clerk nt Invercargill, and who has now been pronoted to the position of stationmaster at Christchurch. Mr T. W. Brebner, traffic manager, presided, and. on behalf of the staff presented Mr Williams with a tea service. He spoke highly of _Mr Williams's services and popularity, and wished him success in his new field of activity. Mr J. 11, Fowler, Government Audi- , tor for Nelson and Westland provinces, has received notice of his removal to Plymouth province. Mr A. Wylio, of tho Rnilway Maintenance Department, and who is well . known in musical circles in* Christenurrh. on tho eye of his transfer to the first division of the Railway Department.
