FIRE BOARD

The Christchurch. Fire Board met yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs A. L. Parsons (chairman), H. Holland, P. Burgoyno, E. Smith, W. B. McKenzic, and H. R. Ilusbridge.

The report of- the meeting of the Board, held in committee, was submitted and was at!opted. The report was as follows:— ■

The City Council was recommended to frame a By-law to provide for the attendance of firemen at theatres, each by-law to be on uniform lines with, the Hystom enforced at Duncdin. That the Board support a request made by the Now Plymouth Board in the direction that a reduction bo made in tho existing charges of telephones supplied to .Fire Boards. That copies of (Section 48 of the "Fire' Brigades Act" bo printed and placed on every fire alarm box. That line faults be not included in the Board's published annual report. That four strong coupling ladders, with iron bnnd3, be procured. Tenders were received for motor generator set and accumulators, and it was decided to recommend the acceptance of Oaddock and Co.'s tender at a cost of £74 10s. That the Board call for alternative tenders for tho erection of a main station only, and for complete building, as set out on plans and described in specifications. :

The committee reported that a firebell had been offered to the Greymouth Fire Board. That tlie alarm system had. been taken over by the Board, Mr Armstrong having reported satisfactorily in respect of same, .as the superintendent reported that the working was more satisfactory than under .previous conditions. The annual accounts and report, with statement of receipts and expenditure, for tho year ended June 30th. 1912, -showed a debit balance of £3242 19s 7d. The chairman and-Sir Rusbridgo -were appointed to prepare the Board's annual report. Accounts amounting to £602 17s 8d were passed for payment.
