At n luncheon at Parliament House. Lord Denmatt, replying to tho toast of his health, referml to the fact that ho used to follow stccplechasinir. His horses, ho said, -won when he rode them himself. He had spent many pleasant days on the racecourse in England, are! many also in Australia, and he expressed tho hope that ho would be able- to continue iiis pursuit of that engrossing sport in Australia.
Inferring to his experience in the House of Lords, he said that he thought politics was one of tho finest professions, but it had never been so difficult as it was to-day.
