SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
A meeting of the East Christchurch -School District Committee was held on Monday evening. Correspondence was read from the Board, stating that tho side school would be examined by the Inspector on July Bth; also that the sum of £83 os 3d had been paid to the credit of the committee, being the incidental allowance for the quarter. It was resolved to close the schools on Wednesday, July 17th, in honour of Arbour Day celebrations. The Concert Committee reported that tho Choral Hall had I een booked for August loth and 16th, for the purpose of giving two entertainments, the proceeds to bo in aid of the school fund. The headmaster pf the main school reported an average attendance of 613 out ol a roll number of 668, and at the side school 87 out of 100. The headmistress of the main infant school reported the number on tho roll to be 190 girls and 191 boys, total 381, and the average attendance 327. Fifty children had qualified for attendance certificates, while at the Phillipstown •School 53 had qualified, the attendance being,3o7 out of a roll number of 350.
