FIRE BOARD AFFAIRS.

At the last meeting of the Christchurch Fire Board, Mr A. L. Parsons was unanimously re-elected chairman, and Mr H. R. Rusbridge wa's appointed deputy-chairman. It was resolved to abolish tho various committees, and that in the future the Board should meet at least twice during each month, one meeting to be op-en, and the other as a committee of the whole Board. The Chairman, Messrs li. Rusbridge, J F. Grierson, and the Major were appointed an executive to deal with important' matters.

The Baud resolved to support an amendment of.the Act proposed by the Auckland Board, compelling oversea underwriters who grant cover in the Dominion to contribute to tho expenses of Fire Boards.

It was decided to ofrer the firebell which used to be used at Sydenham to the Greymouth Board. The Spreydon Borough Council asked tho Board to let them have a horse chemical on hire, and to grant the services of the Brigade within the Spreydon district, and outs do the fire district. The Board decided that it could not grant this request. The horse chemical will again be offered to tho Borough Council, and the Superintendent would make arrangements and give every assistance in the drilling of the men provided a brigade "was formed.

Tne Superintendent advocated that the Board should take over the alarm system, and it was decided to notify the Simplex Company tliat the p. .sent agreement would terminate, and that trip Board, -subject to a report, would tako over the system. The estimates for the year were considered, and passed.
