COALGATE.
On Friday, at market, there was an entry of 4000 shee? and lambs, 2300 being in the fat pens. Lambs accounted for 1850, the balance being mado up of ewes and wethers in about equal proportions. The so-called fat lambs were about as poor a lot as has been yarded in fat pens this season, the bulk being little better than stores; 1400 were sold at from 11s to 14s 9d, and only 33 at 16s and over. In the store pons tho entry was made up practically of merino ewes and store lambs, only 90 crossbred ewes being penned, and no wethers. There was a good average attendance, and competition was nood for anything freezable, but the bulk of tho stores were passed at auction. Prices were: —Fat Inmbs 16s 3d to 16s 7d, lifrht and unfinished 11s to 15s Bd, fat crossbred wethers 17s 3d to 19s Id, fnt crossbred ewes (best) 13s Id to.los, others 9s 5d to lls 4d, store lambs' Dr Id to 13s 2d, failing-mouth crossbred ewes in lamb 10s sd, soundmouth merino ewes in lamb 6s 6d.
