The first match of the season for tho Workman Cup took place last Saturday, when Cheviot defeated Waiau by 3 points to nil. The ground was in a shocking state, ivnd the Hoard which cojitrols and receives rent for the Domain should be urged to do some necessary draining.
A pleasant gathering of representatives from the Comvay, Leader, Spotswocd, Leamington, and Mackenzie! districts was held at Mr A. W. Rutherford's Broolcdalc homestead on Wednesday alternoou, tho occasion being to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs R. Blackley, who are severing their connection with Hawkswoodj of which estate Mr Jilacklcy has been manager for tho past six years. During tho afternoon, Mr A. W. Rutherford, of Mendip Hills, presented Mr Blackloy with a gold -watch, and Mrs J. S. Jackson presented Mrs ■ Blacklpy- with a pair of silver entree dishes, si gold chain and a set of afternoon teaspoons.
