ANNUAL MEETING.

Tho annual meeting of tho Canterbury Jockey Club was held yesterday afternoon when Mr C. G. Balgety presided over a small attendance of members.

REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET,

The annual Tcport was submitted as iollows:—Tho committee have pleasure m again submitting a eatisiactorr balancesheet. Notwithstanding increased taxation, and a larger expenditure in imorovements, the balance to the credit of profit and loss is slightly ia excess of tho previous year. The introduction of the. 10s totalisator "has necessitated tho reconstruction of the totalisator house-,, which will l>o in readings for the Grand National Meeting. Members will join mc in deploring the death of a very vaiuisl official, Mr Charles Hood Williams. Mr VVilliams was e'.cctcd a member of the chib in 1577, and ironi 1882 has continuously acted on the committee. .In addition to his activity in tho management of the club, he was for many years the honorary timekeeper. Death has also removed another valued officer in Mr Alired Evans, who for nineteen years acted aa clerk of the scales. The requisite number having been nominated for tJie offices of stewards, committee, ar.d hon. treasurer, no election is necessary—C. G. Dalgety. CThairraan.
