TROUBLE CONFINED TO THE MOOLTAN.
PRESS COMMENT.
(Received May Bth, 1*2.30 a.m.) LONDON. May 8. The Peninsular and Oriental Company dispute is centred iv tlio Mcoltan, which has a crew of 3-6, of which lit are Europeans and only ten are ab'ebodied seamen. The I nion demr-ndid that forty white seamen should be carried. Tho nowspapers estate that one hundred of the cr.w declined to sign en. The Mooltau's officers say that the crew hold a meeting in the saloon, and, considering the Union's instructions unreasonable and hasty, declined to leave tho ship. The London District Transport Workers' Federation, representing 100,000 men, have resolved to support tho strikers and to send a deputation to tho P. and 0. Company to-day. The Orient. Company has already* agreed to carry two etneient white seamen to each lifeLoat. The "3iorniog Post" states that ten seamen are" insufficient. If thc P. and 0. Company is unwilling to raifeo tho complement it ought to be forced to do f?o by law.
