LODGE MEETINGS.
——« . The monthly meeting of the Sydenham United Band of Hope was held in tho Methodist Hall on Monday evening. Mr "F. T. Boyec presided over a full attendance of members and their friends. Mr Jos. Wileon gave an appropriate address. The- following contributed to an interesting pro frrammc: —Piano solos. Misses Ranger and Eileen Gee; vocal eolos. Miss RTaylor, Messrs J. Blyth, and Woodliara; vocal duels, Misses B. and L Wilson, and Misses B. and D. Cragg; recitatiotiß, Miss Ivy Gas& and K. Hanger. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Addington Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0.F;,was held on Monday evening. Prov. Deputy Grand Master Bro. Archbold was present, also the V.G.. officers and members of tho City of Christchurch Lodge. The N.G. stated that the Lodge wkhed to do honour to two of its members who had attained to high and important positions, one in the Order and the other in public life. Ho referred to P.P.G.M. Bro. J. A. Clarke, who was the first member of the North Canterbury District to be i elected to the Board of the Director? l of the New. Zealand, branch, and to [ P.p. Bro. W. JR. Gahagan. who watfthe I third member of the Lodge to be elected J Mayor of a. borough. .Hearty congratulations wero extended to the brethren, and resolutions conveying the, same were recorded on the minutes. The N.G. submitted' a prgramme for the ensuing year, designed to attract visitors from all other Lodges.' The programme was adopted. After the j Lodge closed. Bros. Clarke and Gahagan asked the <lnembers to join with them in celebrating their election to office, nnd a pleasant hour was .spent. Bro. Clarke presented the Lodgo with framed photos of the last .two B.M.C. meetings. A nveetinc of the Loyal Rangiora Lodge of Oddfellows wae held on Monday evening, when a visit, from several of tho North Canterbury District Lodges was made. Two candidates were proposed for membership. The •secretary, Bro. J. Marshall, and the. treasurer. Bro. L. Hunnibell, forwarded their resignations. The secretary had held office for twenty-seven years, and resigned owing to pressure of work in his public duties. The treasnrer, who had been in oifico for fortytwo years, has been compelled to relinquish his duties owing to ill-health The resignations were accepted witli much regret, and applications ar 0 to be culled for the offices.
