RIVER BOARDS.
MANDEVILLE AND RANGIORA RIVER. Tho Mandovillo and Rangiora River Board met on tho 2nd inst. Present: —Messrs J. G. Doak (chairman), Hughs, Mortland, I'ower, and Young. Mr J. G. Doak was appointed to attend tho meeting of representatives of tho local bodies of tho North Canterbury district, to elect a member to tho Conferenco in Wellington on the Local Government Bill. Tho Clerk of tho Hutt River Board district requested to Uo, informed of the opinion, of tho Board in refcrenco to abolishing River Boards us proposed in the Local Government Bill. The Clerk was" directed to reply that it would bo a great m!stnko to do away with River Boards. Murk Evans requested tho Board to clean out tho Cust flood channel drain. Agreed to. B. T. Fowlor requested the Board to have tho willows along the No. 7 drain north cleared. It was resolved that not : co bo {riven to all occupiers of land fronting on tho No. 7 drain north to clear tho willows obstructing tho free flow of the water. Also on tho River Cam. Mr H. Bnindle complained of the outlet to Wilson's and Bossesto's drains, and requested to have tho outlet imnroved. Referred to the surveyor. Mr Ben Ferguson requested tho Board to have Boy's road drain deepened for about fivo chains, and cleaned up to Flaxton road. Agreed to. The Surveyor was directed to accept Bliy and Biirrell's tender for cleaning No. 7 drain north, and invite tenders for widening Bossesto's drain to eieht feet wide at bottom, sides to slope 1 to 1. .
