LYTTELTON.
The ceremony of installing Mr M. J. Miller as .Mayor of Lyttelton for the third year in 'succession, took place yesterday afternoon in the Borouj-h Council Chambers. The function was unusually brief, and after waiting-for somo time to obtain a quorum of Councillors, there iv-seml-led in the Council room, M r jr j .Miller (Ma yor-elect), Councillors Colin Cook, J. R- AV-ebh, )}• >. Lester. F. J. Page and J. A. Collins. Cr. Cook took the chair for the time being and read the declaration, which was duly signed by the Mayor. Cr. \ oo \ bnefly expressed the wish that Air .Miller,would.have a successful aud .Jlcfusani. y;M . r () f o f-- K . ? . allt * (hen vacated the chair which was taken by Air Miller. , i In_a brief speech the Mayor thanked theCouncillors for their loyal support during the past two years, and expressed the wish that "their relations would bo as cordial and harmonious during the coming year as they had been in the past. There was a good deal ,of important work ahead and k'3 trusted •to tho- Councillors ,'tb assist him in carrying outrthe affairs of the borough to the entire satisfaction ci the ratepayers (applause).
