MATTERS UNCHANGED
(PM-St- ASSOCIATION TEttGRAM-)
DUNEDIN, May 1. Matters in connection with the dispute 'bet \voen the men employed at Christie's Green Island mine and the employers aro unchanged, both sides persisting in a determination not to waver. The men say they are determined not to return to work unless a jig is erected, while tho owners say that there is absolutely no reason why the men should not start work again. Mr Christie, tbo mine manager, states that the jig, as proposed originally, was only to take coal from above the present workings, and all men underneath would —till have had to truck on the ioads, a position which tho men clearly understood when the. jig was talked about. -'Tho mine is there to .start work when they like," ho concluded, "on tho samo conditions as previously, and if thoy don't like to start, it can bo sealed up."
