Charon, of lesser nltitudr, were well coated with snow, which caino down to tho conical hills and on tho tops of the Leslie Hills. In the fino snnehino of Monday tho outlook was charming, and tho effect bracing. Thero arc numbers of visitors prolonging their stay, and feeling that Hanmer Springs is a complete holiday resort, evon.after a brief snowstorm. The contractor for th<> last deep well, Mr J..W. Hornc, driving near tho original springs, opposite tho caretaker's houso m tho Sanatorium grounds,..tapped a hot stream with a temperature of 118 degrees, and thero are strong hopes that tho result of this, bord, will bo an important event. Tho -water, as! it overflows from tho pipe, is' charged .with sulphuretted hydrogen gas, which ignites when a match is applied. Mr Vickcrman, of tho Public Works Department,- arrived yi\sterday, A attd will decide as to a continuation of tho boriug , or further tests, if necessary. ,
