Binns, referee in tho Linav<hkl A-Albion A l'reNident'is Cvi» Mat-eh, on Saturday week, reported that- ho had been to order off tho field a Linwood player named Fletcher, and an Albion player named Stokes, for fighting whilst the game was in progress. As tar as he eouid tell, the Albion player was the aggressor, and the Limvood playvr retaliated. It seemed that they lost their tempers for tho moment. The two players concerned, and tlu> referee, attended tho comnritt«X''fc meeting by request. Stokes, who HtateJ his Christian name was Albert, said he •was playing fire-eighths for Albion. He saw Fletcher hit ono of the Albion men. and lie then lost his temper, and went up a:;d hit Fletcher. He apologised to Fletcher afterwards. Fletcher, who said his Christian name was-Wil-liam, stated that he had fallen on to? of tho Albion -full-back when the latter collared him. An Albion man on the line called out that he hit the fullback. Stokes then went up and hit him. and in sell-defence he retaliated. Mr'Binns said'he just saw the two meal fighting, and ho ordered them off the field. He did not know what tTToy were fighting about, it was all done so quickly. It was decided to suspend Stokes'for four playing Saturdays from now, and to let Fletcher off villi' a 'caution. ' ■ a .
