MAYORAL ELECTIONS.
» MR, PARR'S RETURN. (I'RESS ASSOCIATION 7W<EGRAH.'. AUCKJiAND, April 25. An astonishing; and v.-idespread fooling of satisfaction was eronied by the re-election of Mr C. J. Parr as Mayor of Auckland. That this was so was dearly evidenced to-day, when }ii - atulatory messnffes rioured in upon Mr l'iirr from nil parts of the Dominion, and evrn further a field. Amongst those who cciifcratulat.fvl the Mayor upon his re-election, were the Hon. A. M. Myers. Minister for Railways;, and a number of M.P.'s. including Mr Ma.sr.cy, leader of the Opposition, membors of the Reform Party, clecics of all denominations, magistrates, public nnd social organisations, prominent citizen!* in various centres of tlio Dominion, and numberless private persons. In nil. between 300 and 400 of tho congratulatory messages roaclic<l the Mayor during tho day. A somewTiat quaint comment upon t!ie Wellington mayoral olection. where Mr D. McLaren, Labour headed the poll, was contained in a telegram roroivod by Mr Parr from a prominent AVeilingtonian. After having expnsscd congratulatory sentiments, tho sender of this message, added: —'"l wish we had you down here."
