VICTORIA'S DEPARTURE POSTPONED.
Owing to the heavy rain yesterday the Huddart-Parkcr steamer Victoria was unaljic to load the whole of her largo cargo of grant and produce. Efforts wero mado to get the cargo on board, but tho grain could not bo uncovered for sampling and loading without risk of grave damage. Tho vessel's departure ior Wellington, Napier, Gisbome, Aucklana and Sydney ha«, therefore, been postponed until {he arrival of the 2.45 p.m. tram lrcra Christchurch this afternoon.
Up till last night tho following passengers wero booked by the Victoria:—For Wellinsrtou: Miss Reynolds, Mcsdames Brailsford and Thomson, Messrs Brailsford, Mitchell and Oakley. For Gisbome: "Mesdames Fraaer and WaJton,. Messrs Dorn, Reynold-- and Dnimmer.d. For Auckland: Mrs F. Lawson, Messrs J. Lawson, F. Lawson, Keatcs. Gocdhead, and J. J. Dixcn. For Sydney: Mr Parkins. Kiniey and Co., agents.
