MALVERN.

After several weeks of beautifully fine weather, a change set in here on Tuesday about 2 p.m. Rain fell lightly at first, hut towards nightfall the wind shifted to tho south-east and brought a deluge with it, heavy rhin continuing until nearly midday on Wednesday. Yesterday morning roads and paddocks wero in a flooded condition nnd in consequence all outside work was brought to a standstill. Tlio rainfall is, howicver, seasonable and beyond the slight discomfort and tho stoppage to outside work, will be of material benefit to the tlistrict. At Darfield 3-22 inches of rain wero recorded bringing the month's total up to 4.37 inches.
