MARSDEN CENTENARY.

PREPARATIONS FOR CELEBRATION.

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TEI.KGUAM.) AUCKLAND, April 11. In the month of February, 1915, Now Zealand will have an opportunity of celebrating what Bishop Crosslcy referred to at the C.E.AI.S. Conference us the most remarkable anniversary that the Dominion, has experienced, namely, the centenary of the. introduction of the Cross of Jesus Christ, with its message, its hope, and its healing. In celebration of this great event his Lordship said tho bishop and the diocese of Auckland had been requested to arrango for tho holding of the first great and united Church Congress for New Zealand. "The name of Marsden," continued the" president, "is to bo enrolled on the list of heroes in the battle lino of God, and wo would be unworthy inheritors of the sacrifice of the daring of himself and his comrade missionaries if we did not make a great move to show to tho 'world that on the hundredth anniversary of the landing of Alarsden we were desirous of commemorating the event by some groat and common-action.'' (Applause.) Tho speaker said he had little doubt that they would be able to obtain visits by bishops not only from Australia, but from Canada, the United States Church of England, the Church of Ireland, and the Episcopal Church of Scotland, and probably from South Africa. He desired to' ask the C.E.M.S. thus early to join in making the Alarsden centenary the occasion not of a flourish of trumpets, but of penetential resolve to be up and doing, as Alarsden did when he preached the Gospel at the Bay of Islands. (Applause.)
