CASUALTIES.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION" TUX-GRAMS.) AVELLINGTON. April 10. Emily Jeffcry, aged 19 months, who wa.s severely scalded at her parents' residence last Monday, died in the hospital this morning TIS KI'ITI, April 10. Early on Sunday morning, .lohn Farroll, a settler from tho Rangitoto block, was discovered dead in Solomon's yard, Otorohanga. An inquest was opened on Monday, and adjourned for a week. The evidence sliowim! tiiat deceased had got liquor upon a train on Saturday, and that he and others had taken the liquor to tho yard and consumed a considerable quantity. The witnesses' recollection of what further happened was very hazy.
Whilst competing in the high .jump at the athletic sports at Akaroa on Easter Monday, a young man named A. Sefton. of Pigeon Bay, had tho misfortune to fall and sustain a fracture of his wrist. He was conveyed to the Akaroa hospital, where his injuries were attended to by Dr. McBeddie.
