GOVERNMENT FORECAST.

Mr D. C. Bates issued the following weather summary and forecast at 5 p.m. yesterday:—

A westerly low pressure has dominated weather conditions during tho past threo days, but the barometer has risen slowly at Bluff since midnight. Rain has fallen in most parts of tho country, and wurm and c'ondy conditions have prevailed, with strong westerly winds generally. Present indications aro for strong westerly winds, veering shortly to southerlies in all parts of tho country, with a rising barometer. Cool and changeable weather is probable generally with rain in most parts of the country, and some snow on the higher levels' in the South.
