"THE PRESS" RELIEF FUND.

FOR STARVING WOMEN AND CHILDREN.

j The list of subscriptions received k-osterday fcr "Tho Press" Relief Fund j for tho benefit of the women and chilI dren who aro starving at Home as the | result of the strike, shows the effect !of the holiday. The falling-off. though regrettable, was not wholly unexpected, as business was practically suspended yesterday and the city was deserted except by holiday-makers bound on pleasure trips cf one sort or another. We trust that with the partial resumption of work today, tho thoughts of the sympathetic public will revert to the sufferings now being undergone by thc poor in the Old Country, and they will send something to the fund. "Ho gives twice who gives quickly." If the response is as generous as we hope it will be we shall bo able to cable Homo another instalment of the fund to-morrow or Thursday.
