"Secondly, the -Assembly in its deliverance, directed the committee to on- ' courage tbe study of the Reformation ! ami of Reformation principles in our i Bible-classes, by offering prizes for j essays and examinations on text bonks. ' To give practical effect to this direction j the sub-committee recommends: —(I I ■ That an appeal be made through tbe ■ "Outlook" and by circulars addressed | to congregations, for subscriptions to ! form such a fund, and that a* soon as funds permit two subjects for essays • be announced this year. 01) That the. deputation to the Premier on the subject of the petition." Mr Wood moved: —'"That the report of the sub-committee be adopted, and the sub-committee requested to draft a petition and submit it to the. next meeting." Mr "Wood said that Dr. Gibb. of Wellington, was exceedingly anxious that a deputation should be sent to the Premier, but as things political were rather in a state of chaos at present, that would r.ot be done for s»nie time.
