Tho Axemen's Carnival, to be held <.t Kaiapoi on Easter Monday, has attracted good entries, competitors having been nominated from Greymouth, Kumara, Cheviot, Oxford, Rangiora, Southland, and tho North Island. Arrangements havo been made- for a special train from Christchurch. ■ Tho programme for tho concert- to bo ..given this evening in the King's Theatre, in aid ; of the funds of tho iGhristchurch - Prohibition League, is an. excellent one. Several local vocalists will take, part. There are to bo:illustrated.songs, etc., and a spectacular display, entitled ' "Zealandia's Message.to the Nations," which includes nearly ono hundred performers. The Scottish-Society's bazaar wi!l bo opened to-morrow at 2.30 p.m. in the . Society's rooms, Manchester street. A jumble sale, in nid of tho. funds of the Christchurch Prohibition League, will be held in the Foresters , Hall, Oxford terrace, to-morrow. The quarterly general meeting of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, will bo held at 3 p.m. to-day in tho Chamber of Commerce. • A bazaar will be held in tho Durham street schoolroom to-morrow. The time for receiving entries for the Hawarden A. and P. Association's Show has been extended till to-morrow.
