ALLAN HAMILTON'S SEASON.
Active preparations oro now in. hand at the Theatre Royal in connection with Allan Hamilton's opening production of 'Beauty and tho Barge" to-morrbw ovening. The mechanical staff arrived yesterday from Wellington* bringing , a large quantity of the ecenery and effects required for the production. Jacob's delightful farce lends itself to scenic display, and Mt Harry Whaite, the well-known scenic artist; has availed himself fully of the opportunities p.re« sented. Nothing further could be ■wushcd for than the , garden seen© of the first net. arid the interior of tho Ship Inn, disclosed jn" the second,act, is said to be a triumph of scene artist's skill• The finest scene, however, is presented in the third act, showing a charming bit of Thames scenery. Here "the original ' barge built at the Haymarket Theatre, London, is seen sailing, and the action of tho play takes place on tho deck of this realistic stage property. Mr Hamilton's production of "Beauty and xhe Barge" is said to he worthy of tho , best traditions of the . comedy etas<?, and that Christchurch <theatre-goers intend availing themselves of tne opportunity of seeing this fine production' is evidenced by the steady demand for seats' at the Dresden, where the plans are now open.
