GISBORNE/ March 2Q. A conference was held between the men and the master butchers this afternoon. The shops, however, were opened shortly afterwards by tho master butchers, by whom tho several businesses will bo carried on. There does not appear to be a prospect of a settlement at present, unless the masters concede the men's domands that their agreement should permit of affiliation with the Auckland Union. Another conference wUI te held to-morrow morning. About thirty men are affected.
