Archbishop Redwood returned to Wellington by the Maori last night. The Hon. G. J. Smith, M.L.C., Dr. Teichelmann, Dr; Fyffe, Messrs W. 13. Oowlisbaw, Herman Lewis, S. Smith, ,W, E. Bethune, T. Bullock afld W. Wood, were passengers for Wellington by tho Maori last night. Messrs T. H. Davcy, >1.P., A. Kayo and J. C. Maddison arrived from Wellington yesterday morning. Messrs It. Falconer (Menzies, W.A.), E. A. Crutchett (Boulder City, W.A.), F. A. Powell (Birmingham), and G. P. Griffiths (Sydney), arrived in town yesterday. At a, meeting of tho Kainpoi School Committee; Miss Florenco E. Kent (now of Hinds school) was selected for rocommendation for appointment as assistant mistress. Mr W. Morley, managing director ol Messrs Mason, Struthers and Co., Ltd-, was entertained by tho heads of departments and tho travelling staff at Cokec's Hotel on Monday evening, prior to. his departure for England. Advantage was taken of tho oppor tunity to make a presentation to Mr end Mrs Morley. Mr A. E. Rankiu, who has been appointed acting-mana-ger,, was presented by Mr Mccley with a gold medal, in recognition of his j twenty years' servico in the business. Mr A. F. Jaegger, who is interested in the whaling industry in New Zealand, arrived from England on Saturday by the Athenic. He was accompanied by an expert harpoomst gunner. Mr C. Hansen. Mr F. W. Walker, solicitor, of British Central Africa, came on to Wellington from Capetown by tho Athenic. to participate in tho fishing and gameshootiiiK season in the Dominion. ~ Mr J. Greig, of tho late firm of Graham and Greig, contractors, left on Monday by the Somerset, for a trip ta England. Mr Greiir has been in failing health for some time past, and was ordered a long sea voyage by his doctor. Mrs Greig accompanies her husband, and they hope to be back again by Christmas.
