The Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister of Railways, and the Hon. D. Buddo, Minister of Internal Affairs, left for Wellington by tho Maori last night. Messrs G. J. Anderson, M.P., (Mataura), T. H. Lavey, M.P., (Christchurch East), G. Witty, M.P. (Riccarton), G. W. Russell, M.P. (Avon), T. Buxton, M.P. (Temuka), and J. A. Hanan, M.P. (Invercargill), left for Wellington by tho Maori last night.. Dr. Buck, M.P., and Mrs Buck, Captain Estcourt, Messrs Mark Cohen, A. Kaye, W. R. McLaren, C. Louisson, and F. D. Thomson left for Wellington last night. Mr Hugo Friedlander, chairman of tho Lyttelton Harbour Board, left for Wellington by the Maori last night. Mr John Roberts, C.M.G., arrived in Christchurch yesterday. Mr and Mrs E. C. Banks, Matamata, Waikato, who during the past three weeks have been visiting their relations at Ashley and Lincoln, left for the North last evening. Arrivals in town yesterday included s—Mr H. Newey (Melbourne), Mr W. Reeve (Gisborno), Mr R. T. White (Wellington), Mr \V. T: Prat* (Wellington), Mr and Mrs N Bell ODunedin), Mr J. C. Flummel (Java\ Mr W. H. Edwards (Wellington), Mr L. H. Maddison (Norwood), Mr and Mrs L. Blundell (Wellington), Mr A. Steven (Dunedin), Mr K. G. Turner (Timaru), Mr R. Hudson (Dunedin), Mrs John Roberts (Dunedin), Mr W. H. Meek (Ashburton), Mr' E. V. Milnes (Irwell), Mr W. A. Key (Auckland), and Mr C. A. Piper (Dunedin). Miss Stewart, who has been postmistress at Sumner for several years past, has been transferred to Wellington. Letter-carrier Burrows, who has been in indifferent health for some time past, will fill tho position temporarily. Tho residents of.Akaroa and the surrounding bays will learn with regret (says yesterday's "Mail")' that Dr McRoddie has sold his practice, and will leave Akaroa in April. Dr. Mcßeddio has taken a great interest in all local affairs during his five years' stay on the Peninsula, and his deoarturo will b« keenly felt. His practice will be taken over by Dr. Cantrell, of Invercargill. Mr and Mrs L. Blundell, of Wellington, arrived in Christchurch last night from the south. At the meeting of the Christchurch Drainage Board last night, Mr Walter Hi!! (chairman) was granted six months' leave of absence to visit England. On behalf of the Board Messrs J3l J. Otloy and S. A. Staples wished Mr Hill a pleasant trip. Yesterday afternoon the staff and pupils of Girton College assembled to mako presentations to Mrs Cross (the principal) and Miss Freeman, both of whom are leaving on a trio to Europe. Miss Freeman received a handbag and purse of sovereigns, and Mrs-Cross a jewel case, bearing a neat inscription.
