ASHBURTON.

At the meeting of the Ashburton Borough Council on Monday evening, it was decided to support the Christchurch City Council in tho matter of getting. the Municipal - Corporations Act amended so as to extend tho period for which a councillor was elected to three years. The Borough solicitor, 3lr H. T>. Acland, wrote stating that ho contemplated making n trip to England, and asking if the Council would bo agreeable to his partner acting for the Council in his nbsencp. The request was granted.
