REPRESENTATIVES IX AVCKLAND. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.)AUCKLAND, March IS. The representatives of tho Austral T asian Provincial Press Association were accorded a civic reception by tho Mayor, after which the conference, commenced in the Town Hall. To-morrow afternoon the delegates will be entertained at afternoon tea by tho Mayor and Mrs Pnrr, and on "Wednesday at a harbour' excursion. The party, which' includes Several ladies, will leave for Rotormt on Thursday, their pro■grammo including a tour right through New Zealand.! At the reception Mr H. Horton, chairman of the New Zealand Press Association, extended oh behalf- of the Association and the newspaper .proprietors of - New Zealand a veiy cordial welcome to tho visitors. Mr T. W. Leys -(Auckland), * and" Mr F. W. Sommervillo (Dunedin) endorsed these sentiments. Mr S. W. Mrookcs, nresident of tho Australasian Association expressed bis appreciation at'tho heartiness of the welcome.
It was stated that the Government had granted free railway passes to the delegates for a month over , all the Dominion lines, and had also provided free accommodation at all those resorts where the Tourist Departments had hostelries, besides offering every : . other assistance which .. was possible.- This announcement was greeted with applause. .■*.:.;.. :
