NEW ZEALAND OR DANISH?
A doubtful method of advert ; sin,<x New Zealand butter at Homo is commented upon by Sir W. Wright, the Government's official" inspector-of dairy produce on the Home markets. He says it has now-.become 'quite a common thing in 'New Zealand for dairy companies to place a printed parchment sheet on tho top of their butter-boxes with a view to adding to tho finish of the boxes and at the same time to intimate to the ultimate purchaser that tho butter is made from pasteurised cream and manufactured practically on the Danish eystom. In some cases the word "Danish" is included in large type at tho top and bottom of the circular—in fact, tho sheet is really more an advertisement for Danish than for Now Zealand butter. Mr Wright is quite right in his advico that dairy companies should discourage such a doubtful method of building up a reputation. New Zealand is now making a highclass article quite equal to the Danish, and the reputation should be built upon its own merits. It would bo well if Mr-Wright's recommendation that the word "Danish" bo eliminated from all our butter trado circulars were adopted.
