At a. mass meeting of fishermen, several important propositions wero brought forward, including a suggestion from a firm of Auckland auctioneers to establish a mart, at which tho fish may bo sold at auction. The Chairman said that although '.he trouble still continues, the position, from tho fishermen's point ot viewwas to be regarded as in every way satisfactory. During tho week most of the fishermen had ben out, and had been in gaining good hauls. INo difficulty had been experienced in quitting their catches at" good prices from the wharves to tho public and tho hawkers. A motion was carried unanimously, declining the dealers' offer, and reaffirming the decision not to sell tor I_js than 2s 6d per bundle wholesale, or 3s per bundle retail.
