BOXING.
NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL
At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Boxing Association, Mr J- R. Evans presiding, lengthy correspondence was received from the Hawke's Bay Centre detailing the circumstances which led to the suspension of two competitors and two seconds, who had taken part in a competition promoted by the Hawko's Bay Association, and carried out by that body on October 11th and 12th. 1911. After some discussion, it was decided to endorsa the suspensions; that the Iwo competitors should be each susr pendod tor a period of six months, commencing from January Ist, 1912; that the two seconds should bo each suspended for a period of two years tor misconduct on the stage; and that an additional term of one year should be imposed upon the second who was responsibje for the withdrawal of the two competitors, tlio suspensions to take effect as from January Ist, 1012. C. F. Herbert, Oairaru, holder of the heavy-weight professional championship, wrote in reply to a challengo from A. •B. Ireland, Waipawa, stating that he was prepared to meet Ireland at Christchurch, Timaru, or Oamaru towards the end of May or early in June. The Council tocretary reported that ho had furnished Ireland with a copy of Herbert's reply, and that lie had also communicated with the Associations at Christchurch, Timaru, and Oamaru with respect to promoting the match. Since th;; despatch of his communication he had been ad«rispd that it had been decided to wind up the Association at Oamaru. Ho read correspondence from the Christchurch Sports Club and the Timaru Association, to tho effect That neithor body could undertake to carry out tho contest. It was decided that a circular should be forwarded to the other local Associations with respect to promoting the match.
