E. T. HOOLEY.

£ENTENCT-D TO TWELVE MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT.

United Press Association—By Electric Association—Copyright. (Received-February 12th, 1.5 a.m.) LONDON, February 11. E. T. Hooley, says a London cablegram, has been sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment. In Hooley's defence it was argued that the charges in relation to Riseloy Hall were not ordinary mortgages, since ho was not restricted in his power to sell. The jury wore twenty-five minutes considering their verdict. Mr Justice Phillimore agreed with tho verdict, and said that Hooley was nossibly not alone blameworthy for young Tweedale losing £27,500 in one year and a half, and becoming liable for a further £16,000. Nevertheless, the offence was serious enough, and Hooley would be sentenced in the second division, tho judge stating that ho would enjoy the privileges of writing appropriate in tho case of a business and'educated man.

Hooley was unmoved, and made no reply.
