Of all the offences enumerated, the throw- ! •-. of chewing-gum is tho most prevalent. Thirty per cent, of the Kansas ; _ -l»pulation, it is estimated, are chow- } ■ mg-gum devotees, and thero is a very omilar proportion in most American cities. In some cases tho health autfionties have even gone to tho extent 7 of issuing- notices combating the popular delusion that chewing-gum benefits too teeth and promotes digestion.
