BURNHAM FARM
TO THE EDITOR OP "THE PRESS."
Sir, —I read with much pleasuro and interest an able article in "The Press,'' by your special correspondent, on the riae.and progress of Bnrnham Industrial School farm. /I know the farm before a fence or tree was on it, so I would like to commend, the writer for giving such a truthful and unbiased account of what the manager's skill and foresight have dono in making a poor, stoney, unproductivo farm to bring forth plentifully. In doing that he is killing two birds with one stone, for besides converting a bad farm into a good one, he has done it with the-boys who are sent to him from all parts of the Dominion for reasons I need not mention, and ho has brought, and is bringing them into excellent use, and making them also a credit to themselves and the Dominion at large. Of course there are exceptions in Sic best regulated family, but I think the ratepayers and all concerned are fortunate, and should bo glad in having such a capable and painstaking manager and matron as, axe Mr and Mrs Archey. May they have good health bestowed upon them so that they can carry on their redemption work both for the' farm and ite inmates. lam not sorry Mr Archey did not find himself working on good land, because the. two birds being killed with one stone, already mentioned, are more equal and perhaps better for his own self and his good staff working so amicably under him. I could say more, but will close by adding again a word of encouragement for your correspondent, who has woven a good article out of a diversity of farm threads to be found in use every day at Bnrnham Industrial School.—Yours, etc.,
THOMAS JEFCOATE, February Ist.
