MR J. G. MOORE.
Very general regret was expressed in commercial and other circles in Christchurch yesterday, when the news was received of the death of Mr J. G. Moore, manager of th© local branch of Messrs Sargood, Son and Ewen, which took place at Hanmer on Wednesday night, Mr Moore was very well known in the city. ana was well liked and popular for the .geniality of his character as well as , his sterling business ability; Mr Moore received his business training in a large business firm in. London, and was for th© past ( -fcwenty-s-evenA years connected *Ith; ihe* firm of Messrs Sargood, Son arid Ewen, firstly ik their Auckland and Dunedin houses, and for the past thirteen years he was manager of their Christchurch branch, a position he held with credit to himself and to tho firm. For many years Mr Moore was a member of the council of the • Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, and was a very useful member of the committee of the chamber, taking the keenest interest. in all questions affecting the commercial and generaV prosperity of the cil-y and "district:' He also held the'pbsitip-n of: president of "the Warehousemen's Association/ and did good service in" that'position. Mr Moore was a highly respected member of the Federal Club. For some time past Mr Moore had been in indifferent health, and his condition gave his many friends much anxiety. He leaves a widow and a eon and daughter to mourn their loss.
