HORORATA.

Election night passed off very quietly at Hororata. A number sat up till the small hours of the morning, to hear the result of the poll, and great disappointment was expressed when, after waiting for hours at tho.local telegraph office,, only four returns were sent through. ROLL&ON. The Sunday school anniversary was celebrated at the Rolleston public school on Friday. In the afternoon there were sports for the children, and later thore ■was a tea meeting, followed by a public meeting. At the public meeting the Rev. T. Jasper Smyth presided, and addresses were given by the Rev. J. T. Pinfold and Mr R. Heaton Rhodes, M.P. Mr Rhodes distributed prizes won by the scholars, and addressed some appropriate remarks to the recipients. At "the conclusion of the meeting when Mr Rhodes was leaving, the audience eang "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow," and gave hearty cheers for Mr Rhodes.;
