United Precs Association—By Electrio' -digraph—Copyright. (Received December Bfcb,' 10.40 p.m. SYDNEY, December 8. The High Court quashed the conviction of Dr. Peacock for the murder of tho girl Davies.

The Chief Justice found that although there was sufficient circumstantial evidence to show that Davies was dead, thero was not sufficient to connect Peacock with the death, there being no corroboration of tho evidence of Poke, who was an accomplice. At the trial the Judge should have directed the jury that as there was no corroboration of Poke's evidence it was therefore dangerous to convict. Had that been, done tho jury must have returned a verdict of not guilty. Mr Justice Barton and Mr Justice O'Connor agreed to the quashing of the conviction, and considered that there should be a new trial. The Court ordered accordingly..
