Tho National Union i;t Conservative Associations at Ltcds pledged the party to repeal tho Parliament Act, and approved of the referendum on issuers of national gravity. It refused to hear Mr L. Maxsc, proposer of a resolution favouring Ix>rd Halsbury and the "no-surrender ,, peer 3. Amid an uproar. Lord Selborne moved to prxcoed with the next business. Mr W. 11. Long, who seconded the motion, said that tho party had traversed a great crisis, and had suffered a {jcavy loss. Let it not strew the new leader's path with pebbles. Mr Maxso withdrew his resolution.
