WELCOME TO THE REV. R. B. S. HAMMOND.
TO THE EDITOR OF "TUB TRESS." Sir, —1 note the letter of tho llev. Arthur .tux, vicar of Cust. I tremble for his unfortunate brethren if his full wrath, fall on tnnir devoted heads. I beseech him to remember tho apostolic injunction ■' If a man be overtaken in a fault, yo which are spirituaJ rcstoro sucli an ono in the spirit "i meekness." Jt was, of course, a deed of diabolical wickedno-ss for the Revs. Holland and Purchas to ■welcome this wretched prohibitionist Anglican parson, tho JR-ev. 11. l>. iS. Hammond. Hut, alas! the evil docs uot stop there. The ltev. Arthur Fox is called upon by stern duty to moto out just punishment to his spiritual .-.uperior, im Lordship tho Bishop of Chnstchureh. Jt is true that circumstances .saved his Lordship from tho actual commission of the grave offence, that Jie was not .actually there, but ho intended to bo there, h-e was thero in spirit, and sent a mot-sage oi' regret for his ■absence, and of welcome and good wishes for Mr Hammond. Imagination fails to depict what will hapix-n when tho Oust vicar launches his thunderbolt. I wait with baited 'breath. —Yours, etc., H. COLE. November 16th, 1911.
