Owing to the vicar of the parish, the Rev. Mi Wilford, having met with a serious accident and not being able to attend, the Rev. H. S. Leach, of St. Luke's, Christchurch, presided over the meeting. In his opening remarks he expressed the hope that Mr Wilford would soon be better and able to resume his duties. Later in the evening he mvc an address. The musical part of the programme was arranged by Mr Coleman, and consisted of songs, duets, trios, and recitations, provided chiefly by friends from Christchurch, assisted by local talent. The followinc r took part:—Miss Arrowsmith, Miss \Vi'dy, and Mesdames Rodda, Hindlc, Shillito, and Messrs Rodda, Marshall, Shillito, Burrows, and Coleman. Miss Amyes, L.T.C.L., acted as accompanist, and also played a pianoforte solo. Tho singing of the National Anthem brought a very pleasant 6ocial to a close.
