"THE RACE IS NOT TO THE SWIFT."
When the pessimistic preacher of old made that emphatic statement about the race not going to tho swift or tho battle to the strong, bicycles had not been invented, and the "Swift" bicycle was not thought of. Had the preacher lived in these days ho would have to revise his opinion so far as tho "Swift" is concerned. Why, only last Saturday there were two road races held in Christchurch. In ono, a twenty-mile event, on tho West Melton road, P. Martin, riding a "Swift," won very easily, and H. Gibson, another "Swift" _?,, S',., 1 * 1 seoo -d fastest time and filled fifth place as well. In tho Belfast Club's road race Reg. Allen made fastest time on a "Swift," and T. Hazard, also on a "Swift," ran second. And, to further confuto the preacher, it may oe stated that on Thursday next somo 103 members of tho "Swift" Cycling Club will contest the first of a series of races for th© "Swift" Company's Cup, over a fifteen miles out and back course, starting at tho Coach Corner at 5.45 p.m. As tbey all ride "Swiits," that raco is bound to put the preacher in tho wrong. The enormous popularity of tho "Swift" bicyclo among Christchurch boys, and boys everywhere else, is tho result of tho splendid design and unquestioned integrity of oon-rtrurtion of these famous machines. Tlie prices range from £12 10s. nnd terms can bo arranged from £1 deposit and £1 per month instalments. Call and see the 1912 road-racer "Swift." Adams, Ltd., Solo N.Z.
