(BY OCB COMMERCIAL EIMTOB.) Tuesday Evening. ' There is a good enquiry for wheat, but very little business is doing m consequence of growers holding firlnly. There is some turnover among merchants, though not to a great extent. The best price offered at country stations for other varieties than Velvet] is 3s 3d, but farmers are asking up to 3., Gd in most cases, and only odd lots, for which the current price is accepted, change hands. A small quantity of | four still continues to come into the Dominion from Australia. During the first four months of this year 9610 sacks were received from that source, all of which, except 726 sacks from Sydney, came from Victoria, the bulk of it going to the South Island. Oats are without change, but chatt is easier, and as. low as "os at country stations is the best offer that some buyers will make. The potatoes market is dull, ami prices have given way still, further. The highest price that most buyers wiu cive is 50s at country stations, as they cannot quote more than 65s f.o.b. for shipment. There are few sellers at present as growers arc now deciding to hold*till next month. Pollard—£6 10s per ton Oatmeal—2s's at £14, 7o's £16 per Oatsheaf Chaff—Nominal. 80s at country stations. j Onions—sss. at country stations. Potatoes—Nominal.
