A MILITANT CLERGYMAN.

(Received Juno 16th, 10.35 p.m.)

MELBOURNE, June 16

The Rev. Mr Ross, an Adelaide clergyman, applied for an appointment as officer in tho military forces. The local Commandant did not approve of the application, and referred it to the Military Board, which saw no objection to the appointment. Senator McGregor, Acting-Minister of Defence, having qualms on tho subject, states that ho solved the difficulty by opening a Bible at random, when his eyes fell on the verso, "Ho that hath no" sword, let him sell his garment and buy one." That decided him, and he ordered that Mr Ross bo admitted as an officer.
