GOVERNMENT SECURITIES.
The following are the latest quotations for Government securities, with a comparison of those ruling last week: —
COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. Wheat—The markets are brisker, and there is a Continental demand, specially German. Cargoes aro firm. Two Australian sold at 34s 3 l-3d and 34s 4i<l. Parcels of Australian Febru-ary-March shipment at 345, April-May at 33s 9d. Australian on the spot is scarce at from 3Gs to 375. New Zealand stocks are practically exhausted. Flour —The market is rather firmer. 23s was . bid for Australian patents April-May shipment, and 24s 6d on the spot. Oats—The market is quiet. Gortons 20s to 225, Sparrowbills 19s 6d to 21s 6d. Beans—For New Zealand the market is quiet, 355. Sheepskins—At the sales 4697 'handles of Australian, and 3382 New Zealand were catalogued. There was an all-round advance of one halfpenny per lb for combings compared with March prices. In clothings there were little change, and they are quoted at from par to one farthiiig higher. * Butter.—The market is fiat. Danish, 112s, 113s. Choice colonial is scarce. Australian salted, i 100s, 1025.; unsalted, 104s 106s; New Zealand salted, nominally 108s. A fair quantity of inferior butter has been sold to biscuit makers at 84s, 86s; for secondaries there is slightly more demand at 83s, 86s. Cheese—The market is dull. NewZealand white and coloured, 625. Sugar.—German 10s 7d, First Marks * Wool.—At Bradford wool is firm at full late rates. Metals.—-Copper on spot £53 18s 9d; three months, £54 6s 3d. Electrolytic, £06 os. Tin, on the spot £194: three months, £189 15s. Lead, £12 17s 6d. Spelter, £24. Iron, 46s 6d.
